Course Development at TEDS

from the DE Course Development Team

Second half of development on ST 5101

We are well into the second half of the production phase of our development of ST 5101 – Theology I with Dr. John Feinberg. With a new semester underway we will attempt to communicate the exciting developments as they happen for those of you who are eagerly anticipating this course being made available. Today’s focus is on bibliology.

Color Correction

After rendering and formatting the session one video of Dr. John Feinberg, we learned that the color correction did not “take” the first time around and had to redo the procedure. So, we have a draft circulating without color correction and will soon have a more proper version of the video.

First Session of ST 5101 edited

Today marks the completion of initial edits to the Session 1 video of ST 5101. Dr. Feinberg’s lecture on Prolegomena takes up some discussion of three major views of how to engage in theology as an evangelical. The text of the first session and other initial edits to the first draft of the syllabus and Feinberg’s biography are already in place within the course framework.

Revising Course Review Protocols

A recent spate of minor revisions have renewed our attention on revisiting our course review protocols and procedures. Our desire in reworking things is to land on a better, more comprehensive and more frequent review process for all of our courses.

Talking with colleagues at other institutions indicates that few have found a satisfactory system for reviews and revisions. This is true of producers of graduate level courses as well as academic institutions in general. At TEDS we want to be aware of new textbook edition changes, for instance, before our students discover them. We believe that being aware of the latest scholarship and any changing issues in each course makes it possible for TEDS courses to remain cutting-edge.

the cdev team

For the first entry in our crsdev blog, we want to introduce you to the Distance Education course development team. Lead by Jason Miller, a ten year veteran of distance education certified in instructional design and facilitation, the team handles all aspects of course development, review and revisions for TEDS. Joe Thomson, Sam Yeiter, Liz Morgan and others contribute at various levels to each project.
